My favourite magazine is a paper magazine, but usually I read in the web site www.reason.com too. This magazine is written in an English language and I think that this helps me with my English knowledge. Well, this magazine has lots of articles, but the central topic is the politics and the economy of the United States of America, with the particular characteristic or political vision known as "liberal".

I like the hand for write about political topics, is very funny because they use a lot of irony when they discuss about the government situations and the policy economist in the United States.

The first time when I read the magazine (web site) I was very boring in my house, then I find the web site and I like it immediately. In this opportunity they wrote about the unsustainable war on Iraq and the bad policy of the president Bush.

In short, I think that the reason that I read reason magazine (ha ha ha) is because I'm very agree with the articles and the opinion of this magazine; in fact, I believe (same as they do) in the free minds and free markets, because I love the democracy and the freethinking, not like the blind communist totalitarians ideas or the ideas of the right wing.

Critical Error System

Well, I would like to visit Venezuela, mainly because I like the lifestyle of this country. Personally, I would like to taste the Venezuelan food because it is a fusion with other style of foods, for example, the Venezuelan food has a little of Indian food, French food, Italian food and Spanish food and all that with Latin American ingredients. This combination makes meals full of different mystical flavours. Other reason for that I would like to go to Venezuela is because the geography is very intense; moreover, I like the tropical climate (Simon says that this word is right), like the full rain with warm temperatures, for example. About the natural resources in Venezuela you can find beautiful beaches, wonderful rainforests and precious mountains and rivers, one of them is the waterfall "El Angel" with 500 meters of height, which makes this waterfall unique in his kind. Venezuela has many types (species) of animals too. Other reason why I would like to go to Venezuela is because the cities have a precious architecture with wonderful colonial and vanguard buildings. In Venezuela, what I would like to do is: fishing and going to the beach to relax. Also, I would like to fly in helicopter over a rainforest.

Post of the last semester

I study geography because I like to look at the territorial problems, also because Chile has various geographic regions and each region is very different and I like to study this variety of regions. I think that in Chile, (*) despite the big variety of geographic regions, the people don't know anything about geography. For example, (*) when we (Chilean people) have an earthquake or have a volcanic eruption the people are surprised and think that it is a punishment from the gods and not a natural process. For that reason, (*)I like to study geography. But the then (WW) more I study geography the (X)more I think that the knowledge problem is a global problem and not only in Chile, Proof of this are were (T) the victims in the natural disaster in the world, in earthquakes(WF), Volcanic Eruptions(WF), Floods(WF), mud flows(WF), Hurricanes(WF), monzón cyclones(WF), heatwaves(WF), etc.

I think that the environment problem is one, but manage the environment is the (X) another (WW) problem and I think that the geographer can help to resolve the big problem, (*) of (X) about the(*) manage the vulnerability of the people with the environment,(*) and to (T)reduce the numbers of fatalities around the world for natural disaster.

Finally,(*)I recommend a book about managing environment problems for successful and unsuccessful societies titled "Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed." by Jared Diamond.

my best photography

Well, this is my best photography. I'm here with my brother, actually, on his shoulders, because I was a little kid and I had four or five years old, and my brother has fifteen year old. This photo was taken in Punta Arenas by my dad. This day was a cloudy day and I was very dirty, because I was playing in the mood and I appear all swinish. In general term, the picture is very sad and depressive, but I think that this moment was very special, because my family was meeting around it. In this photograph appears my old house in Punta Arenas, also, appears a fence and one burn plant (because the snow). Well, I remember that we (my brother and I) dressed with same clothes, on this opportunity, the woolen waistcoat was blue.  I think that we look very nice in the picture and it looks like the classic postal of the poor Chilean country (hahaha).  Finally, I have many similar photographs but I think that this is more special than the others. I will try to upload more pictures to the blog, but I won't promise anything. (last sentence is stuffing). Bye. 

Field Trip

Well, I remember specially a field trip. It was the last year when we went to San Pedro de Atacama in the Antofagasta region. I remember this field trip because I like mountains and all the special meaning about the culture of the mountains, like the music and the native people. In this case we went to a house of atacameñan people, the leader (The Boss) of the house, called Carlos, who was very friendly when he opened the house for us. He told us about his life style and usually he cooked typical atacameñan food. Also we have long time to talk with Carlos about his people and their stories, generally old stories, about his mom or his family. But in the nights we went to the town to drink something and talk, and that was very funny. Well, generally we had a few field trips to other places around the Salar de Atacama and we visited other people who live there to talk about their problems. Finally, we travelled all the way long by car and it was so long, but I never get bored, because we heard lots of music or we have long talks too. Sometimes, we smoked some cigarettes and other green things and it was so nice, because the people who I travelled with are wonderful guys.

How are you? I hope that well. I would like to know about you, and I don't want that you think that this is psychopathic letter, I just wondering, what do you like to do in your free time? And also which is your favourite activity? Well, please, tell me things about you.

In other topic, I want to talk about your corrections on my post. I think that you make a great job and you are very perfectionist, but always it says in Chile that "English Teachers" have a big problem and I feel that you have it too. And the problem frequently is that "the teacher" can see the problems that have the student –in written text, for example- but rarely analyzes and explains the mistakes to the students and I feel that the real education o pedagogy goes for that way. Because is not possible that in seven or eight years of English classes, the general people can't understand English and I take this to a country level.

In order, that's the reason to the question "Why?" the education is so bad in Chile.

dogs

In this post I want to talk about my dogs. Actually I live in an apartment and I have two dogs living with me, the name of one of them is Zepequeño and the other is Maki. For me, they're very special and I feel that without them, my life would be very sad. Personally, I like walk through the park with them, but I have a little problem because my little dog called Zepequeño is so angry and he likes to fight with other dogs or kids when they come close, then the dog begins to bark and I feel shame. Well, my other dog is very quiet and always moves her tail when other dogs approach. Well, my two dogs are very different but they're very special.

My favourite piece of technology is the laptop, because it’s a great tool for work and with it you can do other activities like hear music, talk with friends, see videos and play pc games. I use my laptop mainly to work, because I have a geographic software and generally, I make geographic information, but that’s not all, because in my laptop I have my favourites songs and frequently, I do my work listening music. I like to play pc games too and in my laptop I have my favourite game called ¨Civilization¨ (you can call me “nerd”, but this is the best game in the world). Other great property of my laptop is that I can go with it to all places, because it’s very light and comfortable. The ¨main problem¨ of laptops is that they’re so expensive and for that is a little dangerous to walk for the streets with it in your hands. Is for that reason that truly I can’t go to all places with my laptop, for example, today I left it in the office because I can’t walk calm with it through Santiago. Finally, I guess that my life without my laptop would be not very different, because I think that it’s a great piece of technology but it’s not essential for me.

My favourite film it’s a brazilian movie called ¨Central Station¨ from a brazilian director too. When I saw it for the first time I had 14 years old and I felt different kinds of emotions because this film have many different situations and it is a very realistic film of the ¨Brazilian situation¨.

That first time when I saw the film I was in La Serena on my holidays with my family, but I saw it only with my cousin. I remember that this moment was a very moving moment because the story that the film tells it’s an incredible sad story.

Well, the story of the movie begins when a little boy arrived at the central station of Rio de Janeiro looking for his father. Then he decides to write a letter to find him, but he can’t write because he is illiterate boy, so he pays to a writer to do it. But the writer (an old woman) decides not to send the mail and the little boy (Joshua) discover to the old woman and she decides to help him to find his father. But the old woman is apparently a wicked person and she decides to sell the boy to other bad people too, for some money. But then she regrets herself for what she did, and save the kid. Finally Joshua and the old woman discover that Joshua’s father is dead, however he finally finds his lost brother.

a little date.

The typical Fiestas patrias means nothing special for me. Because, in Chile doesn't exist or haven’t great traditions. Because, for the common people in the country the Fiestas patrias just means eat and drink a lot for two days, and the reflection or the true mean around this date is unknown for the common people. I think that the bad education it's guilty for the common people's disinformation about the real mean of the fiestas patrias.

Well, for the 18 September Chileans celebrate the first government reunion and this is the base for that Chile can calls itself an independent country. Is for that reason that this date the Chileans celebrate eating and drinking in excess, the typical food of Chile and other countries in sudamerican is the * Asado¨ and *empanadas* or *anticuchos¨ but you can to find this foods in the other countries in the region. And the typical cocktail is the cola de mono and the more popular drink is the Chicha and wine with coke and when you drink in excess this drink you should sick.

My best 18 september was the last year, because my girlfriend leave of the country and it was a great fare well.

For the future

Really, I’d never liked to think about my future or say how I would like to be in a couple of years. That’s because as the song by Ruben blades says: “Life gives you surprises, surprises gives you the life”, and for that reason, I never project my life. But, as Simon’s activity, I am going to do it.
Well, my life project now it’s to end my career the next year, and to work for a few time as a geographer in Santiago and then I would like to work in the south of Chile or in other region of this country. I would like to go to live and work at Punta Arenas, in any government department where I will plan as a geographer for the development of the region. Also, I would like to buy a house in that city and raise a family there. I think that the house that I want to have in the future should be a big house with a large courtyard, and should have many plants and animals too, maybe some dogs, because I love them, and specially, I would like to have dachshunds dogs. Forward, I would like to do a Ph.D. in a couple of years. That’s because, I like to study and I don’t think that in the near future I wouldn’t like study.

Finally, I have to say that I want have childs, maybe two or three and I would like that they grow living in a little city, out of a metropolis, in a beautiful and save environment.

Learning

My experience with learning English has had highs and lows, because in the school I had good performance and I had a good teacher, but I think that I had a very few classes of English. When I sign in university I had a bad experience, because I disapprove the chance in English two and reprove the class, because this time I not liked to study English and I not went to all class, but now I like to go to class, because my teacher is very motivating and he gives time to explain when I can’t understand in class, the major time I have problems with the vocabulary and my teacher explain of good form. Now, I enjoy with the English class and before I not enjoyed the English class. I think that learning English is not difficult but I feel that me study is very poor because with English I am very lazy. Personally when I find a web page in English I haven’t problems for read in English, but is very difficult for me write or talk in English.

About the English culture, I feel very close because I hear music in English and I have a sister that is English teacher but as the proverb says: “in house blacksmith, wooden knife”.

Finally, I know many people who speak English, for example my sister and my girlfriend speak English. And I think that the learn English is very useful for me, because I can read English text or see web site in English.

Me

My name is Sebastian Llantén and I live in ñuñoa. I have 23 years old and alive in Santiago nine year ago and currently I `m studying geography in the university of Chile and it is my last year in my career. Before I lived in Punta Arenas all my childhood and I think that is a great city for a boy, because I could play with the nature and this city is very safely for a kid, moreover I could see wonderful landscape and I could play with snow and skate on ice and is very funny for a little kid. My family is composed for five persons my dad, my mom, my sister, my brother and me. But I live only with my mom and my sister, because my dad live in other place and my brother live with his wife and his little son. My nephew is very young, because he was born two days ago, and I `m very happy because is a beautiful boy and his name is Nicolas. Currently besides of study I `m working in the military geography institute for my professional practice and I think that is very funny because you can read, talk for all building and the people are very friendly.

My Blogging Experience

The blogging experience was a great experience, because helped me to write in other language this case in English language. I think that write in English helped for me self-esteem with the English language, because I hadn’t the “trust of manager” and now can write with major fluent language, also I can show my blog in English with my classmate and I can see the interesting post write by my classmate. Finally, I think that all in the class enjoyed write in the blog, because all classmate and me could give personal opinion about the question that the teacher asked and also we could play with other tool different to the traditional class.

What I didn’t liked?

In generals terms I liked the Blog Experience, but I think that dammit participation in the blog, because the comment in the blog was two or three in the most popular blog and I think that this was product because we are very lazy with the English class.


What helped me learn English?

How said with previously I think with the blog experience I could win more experience with the English language and won more self-esteem with the language. Now, I can said that not fear learn English language.

My least favorite post is the last post the hector Aedo blog’s jejeje, because he never writes a post because he is a lazy classmate. But he is a great people, but I think the last post about the resume of the story is great.

Which is the best blog in the class?

The best Blog is the Montes blog’s, because he tell me for promotion his blog and he say “ my blog is excellent and upload a music disc and I kicking to all not say that my blog is great” and I have fear.

Martin, You never die.

I guess Martin Gore is my favorite musician and guitar player of Depeche Mode . Personally, I think he is a great british musican from the the 80´s and 90´s. He made all the music and lyrics of Depeche Mode songs. I’d like to meet him because he is a rock star but still very professional and a simple person too. Unfortunately, Depeche mode has only been once in Chile, for the Devotional tour in 1994, and I was a little boy and lived in Punta Arenas, then I could not seen them live. Martin Gore made electronic music but his style has changed a lot, because he in the beginning created lyrics and very basic sounds but when through year his music has evolved to finest sounds and lyrics. I would like to see him in some concert in Europe, because probably he’ll not come to South America anymore.

Finally, I would ask to Martin Gore. did you liked the musical evolution of Depeche Mode?

The BBC website

The BBC website designed to learn English can be found various methods to achieve the desired Learning. This website has many benefits, but more importantly his gratuity.

Within the BBC website can be found various topics to learn in a comprehensive manner the English language. A topic for example is New English which shows news and highlights some of the words in the text and then explains their use and mean, thus creating a broad vocabulary for the user.

There is also a topic of Quizzes and Exams and its aim is to learn to play, with fun games like puzzle and complete words.

Personally, the funniest topic in my opinion is “face up to Phrasals” in the section of Grammar and vocabulary, because it explains how to appoint everyday situations in English.

Another important factor on the website of the BBC is that it contains many videos and an audio file which makes it evens more dynamic and fun website.

This summer I was lucky to visit two parts very different from Chili, the desert of Atacama and the Valdiviana jungle. These two parts are wonderful and the two places are very spetial, but my favorite place was the Valdiviana jungle. In January I visited the Oncol Park, this is a park in the center of the jungle of Valdivia in the "Cordillera de la costa" and also in the "Pangüipulli" lake. I visit this site whit my boyfriend,We were____ ten days, we did treking all days, one day we did treking with guides who showed___the local fauna, we went to swim to the lake and vegetation and other day we did kayak. This site is priviliged because from there you can see more than nine volvanes, rives, the jungle and sea all__the same time.The truth is that I am charmed with me this place, because there is nothing that I like_________the trees the green one and the animals... YapiVal blog

I think that the Valeria’s blog is really nice. One of the things that I most like it’s the green colour used by her on the website since my favourite football team here in chile "Audax Italinao", it’s green, so I love the team as same as the colour. When I took a look at the website I could see lot of pictures of the south of Chile, and they were really nice. I think the design was really good, simple and natural. However, I believe that the combination between pink and green it wasn’t the best choice, pink colour is too bright and that makes it very difficult to follow the text as a reader.

Just a perfect blog

I personally do not have a favorite song because there are many that I like and depends on the mood that I find that I like more. Nevertheless, there is a song that relaxes me a lot and good things always happen when I listen to it and it’s called perfect day by Lou reed, something good also said the name ??-jojojo-even though it is the only song that I know by him I like this artist very much. I listened to it for the first time in a cassette which had a friend when i was in high school. The place where we listened to it was a square near my school while drinking a box of wine, I was a little drunk, the day was sunny and the shade was very pleasant. I do not know exactly which style of music it is, but is rather slow, calm and relaxes me a lot, is one of those songs difficult to forget in life.

San Juan

My favorite place is the”estancia of San Juan”. I lived a long time in the city of Punta Arenas and estancia of San Juan is located 70 km south approximately. When we traveled to this beautiful place my whole family was always gathered, mom, dad, my brothers and some friends who were there with us. The last time I went to the “estancia of San Juan” was twelve years ago, when I was just a small child, but even then I could distinguish the beauty of the place. In this place I always ate roasted lamb with the family, played soccer and went out for a walk through the austral woods. Beside to the great wildlife and vegetation of this place, there was a very quiet river which were reflected in the clouds, creating a postcard dreamed of this place. I hope that in a couple of years i’ll be able to return to this place.
